Reconstituted NDMC members take oath
Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna on Monday administered the
oath of office to members of the reconstituted New Delhi Municipal
Council.
The new Council has Parimal Rai as Chairperson, Tajdar
Babar as Vice-Chairperson and Karan Singh Tanwar, Ashok Ahuja, Dr.M. K.
Kutty, M. Gopal Reddy, Dharmender, S. K. Singh and Rita Kumar as
members.
The NDMC has been reconstituted under Section-4 of the
NDMC Act-1994 vide a notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs,
Government of India, dated January 18. An NDMC official said: “Mr Rai in
consultation with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been
appointed as the NDMC Chairperson while Ms. Babar has been nominated as
member and Vice-Chairperson of the NDMC. “
Two members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from
constituencies falling under the NDMC area have been nominated as
members. These comprise Ms. Dikshit from the New Delhi constituency and
Karan Singh Tanwar from Delhi Cantonment constituency. Former MLA Ashok
Ahuja has also been nominated as member.
