Project report on water scheme to be ready by Nov. end
A detailed project report (DPR) on Erode Corporation’s
ambitious Uratchikootai dedicated water supply scheme is likely to be
finalised by the end of this month.
The civic body aims to implement the scheme at an estimated cost of Rs. 300 crore.
Mayor
Mallika Paramasivam has expressed confidence that the State Government
will give its nod to the project immediately after the submission of the
DPR and allot the required funds. Chennai-based Tamil Nadu Water
Investment Company, consultant for the project, is preparing the DPR.
“The scheme is important for the Corporation as new areas have been added to its limits recently.
The civic body will not be able to meet the water requirements of the people with the existing schemes.
The
civic body has to implement the new dedicated scheme to ensure adequate
supply of water to all the residents in the Corporation limits,” says
Ms. Paramasivam.
Limits
The
new Corporation limits includes Surampatty, Periya Semur, Veerappan
Chatram and Kasipalayam municipalities, BP Agraharam and Suriyampalayam
town panchayats and Thindal, Villarasampatti, Ellapalayam, Gangapuram
and Muthampalayam village panchayats.
