City improvement panel allots 2.5 floor space index for district court
PUNE: The city improvement committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation
(PMC) on Wednesday decided to allot 2.5 floor space index (FSI) to the
Shivajinagar district court.
“The decision was taken during the
committee’s meeting,” said the chief of city improvement committee
Chetan Tupe, while speaking to reporters. “The FSI will be allowed for
the court’s new premises. The PMC will make the necessary changes in the
development control rules to implement the decision,” he added.
“The district court had requested the PMC for additional FSI as the
court’s existing infrastructure is unable to cope with the increasing
work load. A delegation of lawyers had submitted a demand asking for
more space and the PMC should cooperate in this regard,” said Tupe.
The district court in Shivajinagar area has four buildings. A separate building for the family court is being constructed.
Nearly 20,000 people, including 8,000 lawyers, visit the courts for
various work. The current space available is not sufficient and there
has been a long pending demand to provide more space to the court for
better functioning.
