Mayor pulls up officials over poor civic amenities
ALLAHABAD: Mayor Abhilasha Gupta Nandi
inspected the localities of the old city on Monday. Accompanied by
higher officials of public welfare department, the mayor found several
lacunae in the civic amenities and instructed officials to take up
remedial measures.
Mayor inspected Darashah Ajmal, Minhajpur,
Shahgunj, Saraigadi, etc. She was accompanied by the corporators of
these localities along with Jal Sansthan general manager RB Singh,
manager zone-II Mohammad Raza Abdi, officer in charge electrical Mohan Ji Pandey, chief engineer Yashwant Kumar, city health officer SSP Verma, officer animal husbandry Dheeraj Goyal and other officers.
While inspecting the prevailing conditions at Dara Shah Ajmal along
with the corporator of the locality Anees Ahmad, the mayor found heaps
of garbage at various places. Gupta instructed the officials to
immediately clean the streets and clean the silt from the drains. She
further found layer of silt at the Ghaghar drain which was hindering the
flow of water in the main drain. She also instructed the officials to
remove the silt from the drain.
Mayor also found the sewer line
at Dara Shah Ajmal was choked and instructed Jal Sansthan GM to get it
opened. She also found the streetlights were not working properly in
these localities and directed the officer in charge (electrical) to
ensure that the same is repaired on priority basis.
Mayor also
found the manhole open at various places and instructed the officials to
immediately repair the same as these open manholes could result into
major accidents. She witnessed silt deposited at various drains which
was hindering the flow of effluents from these localities and thereby
creating unhygienic conditions because of which people often fall sick.
The Mayor instructed the officials to take the necessary steps and
provide the amenities.
