Bio-medical waste treatment facilities to be set up
Haryana on Thursday decided to set up common bio-medical
waste treatment facility tentatively at Faridabad, Hisar, Jhajjar and
Karnal for the management and handling of bio-medical waste of all
government and private hospitals in the State.

Chief Secretary P. K. Chaudhery also constituted a committee which
would be headed by the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary
(Health) for drafting and finalising the process for setting up these
facilities.
He said that funds for the project would
be sought from the Central Government and the Pollution Control Board
would also make a contribution of Rs. 65 lakh.The Union Ministry of Environment and Forest provides subsidy of Rs. one crore for setting up these projects.
“The
Municipalities concerned would provide land which would be on the
outskirts of the major cities tentatively selected for setting up these
facilities,’’ he added.
