74 p.c. in Haveri and Gadag
In the urban local body elections held on Thursday, an
average of 74.33 per cent and 74.13 per cent polling was recorded in
Haveri and Gadag districts respectively.
According to
the final figures provided by the district election officers, out of
the 2,08,943 voters in Haveri district, 1,54,898 exercised their
franchise. The highest polling percentage of 81.39 was recorded in the
elections to the Byadgi Town Municipal Council. The second highest,
80.02 per cent, was recorded at Bankapur Town Municipal Council,
followed by Shiggaon Town Municipal Council (TMC) with 78.56 per cent,
Hangal TMC with 76.29 per cent, Hirekerur Town Panchayat with 74.41 per
cent, Ranebennur City Municipal Council with 72.02 per cent, Savanur TMC
with 71.94. The lowest, 70.73 per cent, was recorded at Haveri CMC. In
Gadag district, Shirahatti Town Panchayat recorded 79.88 per cent
polling, followed by Naragund City Municipal Council (79.51 per cent),
Mundargi CMC (78.81 per cent), Naregal Town Panchayat (78.04 per cent),
Gajendragad CMC (77.45 per cent), Mulgund Town Panchayat (76.55 per
cent), Laxmeshwar CMC (76 per cent), Ron CMC (73.9 per cent), and
Gadag-Betageri CMC (68.96 per cent).
