Corporators get Sony Vaio laptops
BMC distributed Sony Vaio laptops to all 232 corporators, including
the five nominated ones, Thursday. ‘Yes Sir’, a unique software, will
connect the machines to the main server of the BMC website. The
corporators will be able to know status of ongoing and future projects
through it, said a senior civic official.
“This is a positive step towards digitisation. In future, we hope
to make copies of agenda of all committees online,” said Rais Shaikh,
Samajwadi Party corporator and standing committee member. The laptops
approved last year cost BMC Rs 4.5 crore. The civic body is also
planning to set up kiosks that will upgrade information about civic
projects and policies on the laptops. BMC will also conduct a two-week
training session for corporators.
