Western Railway promises quick approvals for SMC works
general manager assured a Surat Municipal Corporation delegation that
speedy approvals would be given to projects by the civic body, at a
meeting in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Municipal commissioner Manoj Das, mayor Raju Desai, city engineer Jatin Shah, SMC additional city engineer Bharat Shah and executive engineer B H Gadiya met Western Railway GM Mahesh Kumar and other officials.
“Railway authorities have started work to repair the leakage near
Varacha. They have also approved general arrangement drawings (GAD) for
the Amroli-Uttarayan railway station and will soon be allotting blocks
for the Anjana rail-overbridge (ROB), Sachin ROB, 3 level crossings for
Dindoli-Godadara, and 2 level crossings on Dindoli main road,” Desai
said. Railways authorities have given the go-ahead for Utkalnagar and
Pramuksh Park ROB.
All these proposals were pending clearances from the railways and were holding up the city’s growth for two years.
Manoj Das said, “We had detailed discussions on all projects. Major issues have been resolved.”
Besides Mahesh Kumar, others from the railways at the meeting were
principal chief engineer Aniruddha Jain and chief bridge engineer M
Swami.
