North Corpn to take action against farmhouses
NEW DELHI, 15 MAY: The booking of farmhouses in North Delhi will be
troublesome as the North Corporation is all set to take stern action on
the court directive, against all the illegal farmhouses built under its
jurisdiction.
According to a North Corporation senior official, the
court has directed the civic body to seal the illegal farmhouses and
disconnect the electricity and water supply within 24 hours.
Following
the court order, the North Corporation soon will run a drive including
sealing and demolition, against such farmhouses in the city, wherein the
people who have booked these farmhouses for functions will suffer.
“The order is applicable to all the farm houses in the jurisdiction of
the three municipal corporations and action will be taken against those
flouting norms and using their farm houses for organising marriages and
other social functions,” said Y S Mann, Director, Press and Information,
of North and East Corporation.
In 2008, a notice had been issued to
15 farmhouses under the DMC act. Wherein two farm houses – JKS Lawns and
Indraprasthan Lawns on Rohtak Road– approached the Appellate Tribunal
of MCD when the Corporation sealed them along with six other farm
houses. ‘They kept on running the farm houses illegally and are
suspected to have connived with the officials for obtaining clearances
of the civic body,’ observed the court.
