Ban mannequins, Mumbai mayor urges Prithviraj Chavan

MUMBAI: Mayor Sunil Prabhu has written to CM Prithviraj Chavan seeking a ban on the display of offensively clad mannequins. “The Shops And Establishment Act comes under the state’s purview and it should be implemented by them to disallow display of lingerie,” said Rahul Shewale, standing committee chairman.

Viren Shah of the Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association, in his letter to the CM, said, “We should be called before arriving to any conclusion or any amendment in the rules. We do not support any display outside a shop or on the footpath, but only inside a shop.”
