Building sealed

Town Planning Department officials on Monday sealed a
commercial building on Cross Cut Road on charges of building rule
violation.

The building with a constructed area of
about 20,000 sq ft was being altered. A notice was served on the owner
of the building Leema, wife of lottery merchant Martin.

The
building owner had asked for expemtion of the building under the
Government Order of 2007 for regularisation of buildings with
violations. Corporation officials said that the GO gave relief for
buildings with 50 per cent violation and not for large-scale violations.
Hence, the building was sealed on Monday.
