Lack of space hampers development works: Mayor
The unavailability of adequate space for taking up
development activities, particularly related to road development, has
become a major concern for the government and the city Corporation,
Mayor K. Chandrika said here on Tuesday.
She was
addressing a gathering after releasing the logo for a property show to
be held by the Thiruvananthapuram chapter of the Confederation of Real
Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI). Taking into account
the geographical constraints, it was difficult to initiate major
development works and road expansion was the worst hit, she said.
State
chairman of CREDAI S.N. Raghuchandran Nair said while builders welcomed
the government move to establish a regulatory authority for real estate
business, it would oppose the decision in case it was implemented by
the back door without holding consultations with the stakeholders.
The
property show would be held from August 9 to 11 at the P. Subramaniam
Hall, Trivandrum Club, at Vazhuthacaud. More than 20 builders would
participate in the show. Canara Bank, which is the main sponsor of the
event, would also put up stalls.
