‘Throw garbage, incur fine’
To check mounting garbage problem in the City,
the Bangalore Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner
Lakshminarayan has asked assistant executive engineers (AEEs) and
assistant engineers (AEs) to impose penalties on those found violating
regulation not to dump garbage on the streets,
Those found in violation of the norm may have to pay fines starting from Rs 100.
In
a notification passed to this effect recently, the Commissioner said he
has delegated the powers to the AEEs and AEs under Sec 66 of the
Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976.
He also referred to the amendment brought to the
Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act, for the effective implementation of
provisions pertaining to the municipal solid waste.
