Residents of Allapuram, Thorapadi, Sainathapuram, Pananthoppu and
parts of Virupatchipuram will have to wait for two more days, in
addition to the six days, to receive water supply, as the pipelines to
Keezhmonavur pumping station were found broken on Monday.
Water
supply to these areas was suspended from Wednesday as the work of
replacing the pipelines between Keezhmonavur and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar,
which were leaking for more than three months, was being carried out. On
Sunday, the pipelines were being restored for a distance of 40 feet.
However,
on Monday morning, the pipelines between Iraivankadu headworks and
Keezhmonavur pumping stations were found broken. This affected the water
supply to the areas as the work here has been extended by two more
days.
The pipelines will be replaced for 15 feet at two places, officials said.
