Vijayawada: Chevvuri Hari Kiran on Tuesday took charge as the new commissioner of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

The
state government issued orders appointing Hari Kiran, who was serving
as the Chittoor sub-collector, as the VMC commissioner, recently.

Speaking
to reporters at his office after taking charge, Hari Kiran expressed
his happiness at being given the opportunity to serve as the civic body
chief of the place where he had attended the training camp as part of
his IAS training programme for a fortnight.

Hari Kiran assured
that he would give priority to the issues faced by the civic body taking
into consideration their intensity and ensure that Grievances Day was
compulsorily conducted every Monday of the week.

The
Grievances Day will help get the people’s viewpoint and solutions will
be arrived at keeping in mind the absence of a municipal council, he
said.

Hari Kiran assured that he would take all necessary
steps to ensure that the VMC gets funds and the issue of the garbage
dumping yard is sorted out before the 2014 elections.
