Five jetting-cum-suction machines, 12 jet rodding machines and five
desilting machines were flagged off by Municipal Administration Minister
K P Munusamy on Monday.

A Metro Water spokesman said that
jetting-cum suction-machines worth `1.94 crore, jet rodding machines
worth `4.35 crore and desilting machines at a cost of `0.46 crore would
help maintain the sewerage network in Tondiarpet,  Royapuram,
Thiru.Vi.Ka.Nagar, Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Teynampet Kodambakkam and Adyar
areas. This comes after the CM ordered purchase of jet rodding
machines, desilting machines and super sucker machines under the Chennai
Mega City Development Mission. So far, 55 desilting  machines at a cost
of `3 crore, 39 jet rodding  machines worth `14.02 crore  and 13
jetting-cum-suction machines at a cost of ` 4.96 crore  have been  put
to use.
