235 candidates in fray for polls to 3 S’garh ULBs
As many as 235 candidates are in fray for the ongoing elections
to three urban local bodies (ULBs) in Sundargarh district. After the
final list of candidature which was published on Monday, it was reported
that 77 candidates are in fray for 19 wards for Sundargarh Municipality
while 96 candidates are contesting for 20 wards for Rajgangpur
Municipality and 62 candidates for 11 wards for Biramitrpur
Municipality.

The ruling BJD and opposition Congress and BJP fielded their candidates
for all 19 wards of the Sundargarh Municipality with Utkal Bharat
fielding its candidates for only nine wards. Similarly, 11 Independent
candidates (IC) are in fray for the poll. In Rajgangpur Municipality BJD
fielded its candidates for all 20 wards while Congress fielded for 19
wards, BJP for 18, JMM for four wards. Likewise, 35 Independent
candidates are contesting the poll. In Biramitrapur Municipality 13
Independent candidates are in fray for the poll while in all 11 wards
Congress, BJP, BJD and Samatakranti Dal have sponsored their candidates,
JMM has fielded candidates for five wards.
