Mr Arabindo Guha, the chairman of the municipal corporation along with
48 councillors of 50 wards also took the oath as the two lone elected
Left councillors of ward numbers 31 and 46 did not turn up to complete
the formalities.

Soon after taking the oath, the newly elected Mayor, Dr Chakraborty,
spoke exclusively to The Statesman and talked about his priorities for
the twin city, “Our first focus would be to improve to public utility
services in the city such as better roads and drinking water facilities.
We have chalked out the strategies to be implemented at different
levels.”
