Rs.238 crore for city water supply project
With the State Cabinet approving a budgetary support of
Rs 238.53 crore for the Kochi City Part II of the water supply
augmentation project under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal
Mission, the perennial problem of water shortage in the city may be a
thing of the past soon.
The 180 million litres a day
(mld) treatment plant planned at Kalamassery in two phases is expected
to meet the water shortage in the corporation area, mainly in the
northern side, through a pipeline to Kaloor, Thrikkakara, Mulavukkad and
Vypeen areas.
The first phase of the project will be to build a treatment plant of 135 mld.
