GHMC issues notices to contractors, engineers
The GHMC has issued show cause notices to contractors and engineers
for “33 works carried out in a deficient manner and intends to take up
recoveries and disciplinary action,” said Commissioner Somesh Kumar on
Monday.
Speaking to presspersons after the weekly ‘Prajavani’
programme, he said quality control teams during its inspections had
realised that these identified works were not carried out to prescribed
specification. “These works will either have to be restored to the
specifications or we will initiate action,” he said.
On the issue
of handing of Roads & Buildings (R&B) road length in the city to
the civic body to ensure uniform maintenance, Mr. Somesh Kumar said the
R&B had agreed in principle on the issue at a meeting few days ago.
“We have asked them for a division, but they have agreed to a
sub-division,” he said.
The Commissioner said all arrangements
were being made for the prestigious 11{+t}{+h}Metropolis World
Congress-2014 scheduled to be held here from October 7 to 10. “HICC has
been decided as the venue for the event and we are holding meetings with
hotels to have special rates for the delegates,” he said. More than
1,500 international delegates from 60 countries are expected to be take
part in the event.
On redressing grievances at programmes such as
‘Prajavani’, Mr.Somesh Kumar requested the citizens to approach
officials at appropriate levels for getting their complaints solved and
also instructed officials to ensure they were attended on time. “We will
also have officials giving a time frame for solving a grievance to the
citizens while receiving a complaint itself,” he added.
