Urban Greening Corp formed
The government has constituted an exclusive ‘Urban
Greening Corporation’ to translate Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s
vision for transforming the State into ‘Harithandhra Pradesh’.
Over
1,800 govt- owned public spaces have been identified in all the 116
local bodies – municipalities, municipal corporations, nagara panchayats
and urban development authorities – purpose, according to sources.
The
identified spaces and greenery will be monitored through satellite
imageries and geo-tagging. A sum of Rs. 800 crore will be spent in the
next four years with an yearly budget of Rs. 200 crore for greenery and
beautification.
A Government Order issued by the
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department on Wednesday
stated that the Urban Greening Corporation would be responsible for
protecting and planning of all urban vacant lands, parks and green
zones.
