AMC to bring in new tech to cut power bill
AHMEDABAD: Standing committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has cleared a proposal for procuring six energy efficient instrument to cut the cost of spiralling electricity bills of AMC on Thursday.
According to AMC authorities, they have to pay Rs 1 crore in electricity bills for street lights facilities in six municipal zones of AMC.
The units will cost Rs 16 lakh to the civic body. On its efficiency, a senior AMC official said, “This has been taken up as a pilot project where each municipal zone will be given with one such unit to check its impact on energy saving. The units are suppose to save 35 – 40 per cent of electricity when used.”
“Only after the evaluation of the pilot project the project will be further taken for the whole of the city. If the projects goes as per plan, the civic body will save Rs 35 – 40 lakh in electricity from all the zones.”
