ADILABAD: Adilabad Municipal Commissioner Ram Babu on Monday urged councillors not to create hurdles in the drive to collect tax dues from citizens. He said people in town owe a whopping Rs. 1 crore towards property and other taxes.
At the general body meeting, the Commissioner said Adilabad Municipality needs funds for development of the town.
The tax collection drive as well as the rental realisation drive has been taken up to take up developmental work, he said.
Councillors belonging to the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen had protested the allotment of land to fruit vendors in survey number 136 near Ganesh temple on the NH 7. The land had been meant for allotment to the MIM for its party office here, they pointed out.
