GVMC sports, cultural contests

Visakhapatnam: Corporators, officials and staff of the municipal corporation intending to participate in the sports and cultural competitions being organised by GVMC to mark Republic Day celebrations should give their names to the zone commissioners concerned by Tuesday, according to organising committee convener and Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) in charge K. Ramesh.
Mayor, Deputy Mayor, co-option and ex officio members may participate from any zone.
For men 100m, 200m, 400m race, shot put, javelin throw, long jump and for women 50m race and shot put will be organised. Besides, cricket, volleyball, basketball and lawn tennis, table tennis, chess, carrom, badminton will be organised for men and throw ball, tennikoit, carroms and badminton for women.
Among cultural programmes will be skits and mono action, songs and poems, dance, musical chair and painting and rangoli.
All the events will be organised at Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium.
