Nalgonda civic body’s order on eviction set aside
Jan. 28: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday set aside a notice issued by the Nalgonda Municipality directing more than 300 shop owners to vacate their shops from the municipal shopping complex within four days.
A division bench comprising Justice B. Prakash Rao and Justice G.V. Seethapathy was dealing with a petition filed by Mr Shahid Ahmed and 100 others challenging the notice of the municipality.
Mr A. Rajasekhar Reddy, counsel for the petitioner told the court that the municipal authorities had suddenly slapped notices to all the shop owners on January 25 and gave four days time to vacate the premises.
He said that due to the sudden notice one of the shop owners died of heart attack while another one was admitted to the hospital following cardiac arrest.
The action of the municipal authorities created a commotion in the town and the vendors of Vastralatha Bazaar, Nehrugunj and Prakasam Bazaar are agitating against the illegal action.
The bench while suspending the notices, issued a notice to the municipal administration department and the Nalgonda municipality seeking their stand on the petition. The case was posted after two weeks.
HC orders transfer of RTA officials
A division bench comprising Justice Ghulam Mohammed and Justice G. Bhavani Prasad of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday instructed the commissioner of Road Transport Authority to transfer all the officers for alleged illegal detention of two buses belonging to a private travel agency.
The bench while dealing with two petitions filed by Sahara Travels, expressed its anger over the transport authorities for detaining of the buses even after the petitioner furnished all the sureties in accordance with the court orders.
The Road Transport Authority officials seized the vehicles for violation of provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The court had earlier summoned the commissioner, joint commissioner and the deputy commissioner of the Road Transport Authority and they appeared before it.
Justice Ghulam Mohammed while pulling up the officials for dereliction in honouring the court directions asked the commissioner to transfer all the responsible officials within 10 days and produce the transfer order before the court on the next date of hearing.
