Delhi most comfortable city: survey
Delhi tops a list of 37 cities in the country as the one most comfortable for living in, according to a survey carried out by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Institute for Competitiveness.
Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, follow in descending order. The cities have been rated on: natural built/planned environment, health and medical standards, educational facilities, housing options, safety, economic, socio-cultural and political environment.
“If you take into account factors like infrastructure, Delhi is not that bad,” said M. Ramacha-ndran, Secretary, Urban Develo-pment Ministry, while releasing the report on Monday. “The rapid urbanisation taking place, however, calls for further investments in city development with decentralised focus.”
Despite the growing number of crimes committed in Delhi, the report calls the Capital India’s safest city, followed by Bhopal, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. But NCR areas Gurgaon and Noida have been ranked as ‘unsafe’, along with Jammu, Srinagar, Kozhikode and Mysore.
