National seminar on urban infrastructure

CHENNAI: State Transport Corporations and the department recruited 50,000 persons across categories in the last four years, Transport Minister K.N. Nehru said here on Monday. Nearly 15,000 new buses were added and 1,000 new services were introduced, he said, inaugurating a two-day national seminar on ‘Urban Infrastructure – Transport and related Issues,’ organised by the Economics Department of Presidency College.
Urban transportation should be an intelligent one, which should interact with the commuters, said Debendranath Sarangi, Principal Secretary, Environment and Forests. M. Kaliyaperumal, Principal in-charge, Presidency College, spoke.
