Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool and corporators join Mayor Raveendranatha Reddy in the protest
Twelve house owners, including an advocate, get stay orders on partial demolition
KADAPA: Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranatha Reddy, Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool and municipal corporators squatted on the road at Mochampet on Thursday, appealing to some house owners to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in widening the road.
The Mayor appealed to an advocate Rajagopal and 11 others who moved the court and secured stay orders by claiming that the compensation offered was not agreeable to them, preventing the corporation from partly demolishing their houses for widening the road.
Appealing to them not to hamper development works by posing impediments, the demonstrating leaders asked them to cooperate by agreeing to hand over requisite land for road widening.
All the houses, shops and other structures on either sides of the road from second Gandhi statue to Built-Up have been demolished and a high-level bridge constructed across Buggavanka stream on the road. However, the corporation could not partly demolish the 11 houses, the mayor said. As a result, the road was congested up to G. Rama Rao street and gets water-logged during rainy season. Mr. Rajagopal and otherhouse-owners approached the mayor and told him that they moved the court owing to negligence and indifference of the officials concerned.

They decided to hold negotiations in the presence of District Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar to resolve the issue amicably soon. Thereupon, the mayor, deputy mayor and corporators ended their demonstration.
Kadapa MRO P. Muniraj, Municipal Commissioner D. John Samson, City Congress president B. Ayyanna, DCC official spokesman M.P. Suresh, district Seva Dal president B. Nityananda Reddy and municipal corporators B. Padmavathi, Pavan Kumar and others participated.
The mayor went round the 45th and 47th municipal divisions in Praja Patham programme and enlisted the people’s woes.
Along with Mr. Nabi Rasool and corporators, he went round Devunikadapa and enquired with the people on their problems. Congress leaders J. Rajasekhara Reddy, A. Krishna Kumar, B. Hanmanthu and local leaders accompanied the Mayor.
