Sterilisation of dogs begins, 13 canines caught

Ludhiana: The Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana launched dog sterilisation campaign on Wednesday. MC Commissioner A K Sinha, Gyaspura Mayor Hakam Singh and Senior Deputy Mayor of MC Parveen Kumar Bansal inaugurated the campaign near CFC school. On the occasion, a team from Doggielane Company hired by the MC, gave a live demonstration by catching 13 stray dogs and took them away to Alamgir for sterlisation.Talking to Newsline, Bansal said, “This project is of Rs 1.5 crore under which about 25,000 stray dogs will be sterlised. The company has been given the target of sterilising 25 dogs daily. But slowly we will increase it to 50 dogs daily, so that in two years, all stray dogs can be sterilised.”
