Hyderabad, June 8: The elections for the first standing committee of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which will be held on Wednesday, is likely to have as many as seven women corporators as its members among the 15 corporators.

The Mayor will be the ex-officio chairperson of the committee.

However, this will be possible only if the corporators from the Congress and the MIM do not resort to cross voting. There are fears among Congress leaders that the party corporators may indulge in cross voting, as 25 of them are in fray for only eight seats available with the Congress.

The ruling alliance of Congress and MIM has decided to share eight and seven seats respectively.
