Adults can apply for their birth certificates
Here’s another chance for persons above 15 years of age
and not having their names in the official records to get it registered
and take a birth certificate with the name.
The
government has issued orders on Friday giving time till December 31,
2014 permitting entering the names in the municipal records provided the
birth is registered.
The Principal Secretary of the
Medical and Health Department, Ajay Sawhney, in the orders issued has
stated that it would be a one time opportunity given by the government
following representations from the GHMC that several citizens were
seeking such an extension. As per the Births and Registration Act of
1969, births should be registered by 21 days (60 days for NRIs). This
will be the second such relaxation given by the government as the
previous one for two years was given from 2009-2011 when close to 30,000
birth certificates with names were issued in GHMC alone, officials add.
