Afforestation programme inaugurated at AMC
VISAKHAPATNAM: Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation V.N. Vishnu on Wednesday inaugurated an afforestation programme on the premises of Andhra Medial College’s men’s hostel here.
He urged every student staying in the hostel to adopt a plant and enjoy the pleasure of raising it. Mr. Vishnu promised to provide Rs. 1 lakh towards improvement of the basketball court located in the hostel premises.
Principal of AMC G. Bhagya Rao said the men’s hostel was spread over18-acres and the students were enthusiastic about raising greenery in the vacant parts. Hostel warden B.V. Ramachandra explained how the plan to improve greenery had evolved and the keenness of the students to do the job. He thanked the Principal and Municipal Commissioner for extending their help to the students. Vice-Principal K. Venkateswarlu sought GVMC’s help in raising the plants. Students’ union president A. Srinivas, general secretary Vivek, establishment secretary Vasu and Vivek of the men’s hostel also spoke.
