Amayizhanjan to be cleaned before April
Projects to prevent waterlogging in Thampanoor will be
implemented by considering inputs from action councils and with the
support of the public, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said. He was
speaking at a meeting at the Secretariat annexe here on Thursday. Chief
Secretary E.K. Bharat Bhushan presided over the meeting.
Mr.
Sivakumar said that the work on the diversion canal from the Sree Kumar
Theatre junction to Uppidamoodu junction would begin in a month. The
cleaning up of the Amayizhanjan canal would be completed before March
31. CCTV cameras would be installed to prevent dumping of waste into the
canal. Illegal encroachments and constructions, which prevented the
natural flow of the canal, would be removed.
KSUDP
would prepare a project which will include sewage lines on both sides of
the canal, slabs on top of the canal, landscaped walkway, cycle track
and a parking lot, he said.
