AMC asked to complete works before monsoon

Ahmedabad: At an urgent meeting called to review the pre-monsoon action plan of the civic body, Municipal Commissioner I P Gautam issued strict instructions to complete the ongoing projects ahead of the onset of monsoon. All action plans must be implemented within one week, Gautam said at the west zone office meeting.Specific orders were issued to engineering department officials to connect all joints with storm water drainage main line to avoid water logging. It was only a few days ago when cyclone induced showers lashed the city for some time and several areas were left inundated for many hours.
Officials in the engineering, health, estate and town planning departments were told to see that all dangerous structures in the city were taken care of either by getting them retrofitted or pulled down to avoid loss of life and property.
