Amma Unavagams prepare, serve subsidised food on trial basis
With 10 Amma Unavagam’s expected to be inaugurated this
week, idli, sambar rice and curd rice were prepared on trial basis by
members of women self help group and served to Corporation officials and
the public here on Tuesday.
To prepare quality food
in a hygienic environment, officials from health department and catering
department trained 120 members of SHG’s on Monday.
They
were asked to use the right quantity and quality of ingredients and
prepare food in a hygienic way so that the quality is maintained.
The
food was served to Mayor S. Soundappan, Corporation Commissioner M.
Ashokan and other officials, who stressed that quality should be
maintained in all the 10 canteens in the four zones.
The public who visited the Corporation office also had a chance to taste the food.
