Bangalore Mayor a puppet: Congress, JD(S)
They sat for a protest demanding the formation of the standing committees, besides other demands.
Both the Congress and the JD(S) stressed that the recently approved projects must not be implemented until discussed in the council.
“The mayor has violated the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act,” said Opposition leader M
Nagaraj.
On the decision of the ruling party to give considerable amount of projects to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), he accused the mayor of fending for vested interests. “The Mayor is nothing but a puppet in the hands of the transport minister,” he said. He added that projects worth Rs 2,000 crore were given to the BDA in a matter of two minutes.
“There are no elected representatives in the BDA and it would be easier to swindle money,” he said.
“The announcements have not been recorded by the stenographers,” said JD(S) leader Padmanabha Reddy.
The two leaders will start a protest from the Palike office on Tuesday, they have also said they will further ‘gherao’ the Chief Minister’s residence at 10.30 am.
