BBMP acts on potholes
With criticism from all quarters on the poor condition
of roads in the city, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has
decided to entrust pothole filling to Karnataka Rural Infrastructure
Development Ltd. Its zonal engineers were directed to prepare a list of
such roads and ensure they are filled in 15 days. The BBMP will initiate
action against those who fail to do so, a communiqué said here
Thursday.
This was decided at a meeting, chaired by Engineer-in-Chief Ranga Raju earlier this week.
The Hindu
, on Monday, reported extensively the abysmal state of the roads following the recent rain.
Commissioner
M. Lakshminarayana said each ward will be given Rs. 5 lakh to fill
potholes. Potholes on arterial and sub-arterial roads that are under the
defect liability and maintenance period will have to be filled by the
contractor concerned.
