Following the wall collapse at Ganesh Mandir Ward in Padmanabahanagar
on Saturday night due to heavy rains, BBMP Commissioner M
Lakshminarayana visited the spot on Sunday.
He summoned the Chief Engineer to build 30 feet wall in that spot.
Speaking
to Express, he said the collapsed wall, located next to a storm water
drain, was along the road. “If it rains heavily, the houses adjacent to
it will be flooded and it may also cause problems to pedestrians and
vehicle owners,” he said.
“Chief Engineers Ananth Swamy and Sidde
Gowda of south zone have been directed to take the work of construction
of the 30 feet protection wall and the work will start from Monday,” he
added.
He said that his priority in the next 10 days would be to solve issues related to water logging during monsoons.
Corporator
of Banashankari Temple Ward A H Basavaraju said BBMP engineers should
work on the surroundings of the storm water drain as most of the low
laying areas get flooded. Meanwhile, BBMP control room recorded four
complaints following a 0.6 mm rain coupled with winds in few parts on
Sunday as well. There were reporters of trees falls near Jayamahal and
Teachers Colony, water logging in BTM Layout.
