BBMP clears cattle shed from its property
BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagra Palike (BBMP) has finally decided to give some respite to the residents of Vasantnagar ward. Two day after The New Indian Express carried a report (Palike property turns cattle shed, officials keep mum, issue dated September 21, 2010) which said that a person had constructed a cattle shed on BBMP property, the BBMP has cleared the encroachment.The Assistant Executive Engineer (Vasanthnagar) Sub Division said property on which the cattle shed stood belonged to the BBMP. The engineer admitted that a person had encroached it and constructed temporary cattle shed.
A release from the BBMP said the Deputy Commissioner (Estate) was asked to survey the property and fix its the boundaries. The Assistant Executive Engineer (Vasanthnagar) has said he will monitor the situation.
Express had reported the cattle shed was nuisance for people who had to pay bills at the Bescom office. Earlier attempts by citizens to get the cattle shed removed had failed and the person running it had claimed to have political connections.
