The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) may request celebrities
from various fields to bring awareness among the public regarding
garbage disposal.

Mayor B S Sathyanarayana told Express that the
corporation plans to seek celebrities like Rajnikanth, Upendra, Javagal
Srinath and others to create more awareness on garbage segregation. “We
shall also speak to Minister Ambarish. We do not have any political
party barrier. At the end of the day, as a citizen of Bangalore and
Mayor I want to see my city clean,” he said.

Panel Chairpersons Elected

Chairpersons for various Standing Committees in the BBMP Council were unanimously elected on Tuesday.

Aramane
Nagar ward Councillor, Dr M S Shivaprasad, was elected as the
chairperson for Taxation and Finance. Other chairpersons include S
Shashirekha (Konankunte ward) for Public Health, Umesh Shetty
(Nagarbhavi ward) for Town Planning, B Somashekar (Shakambarinagar ward)
for Major Works, AH Basavaraju (Banashankari temple ward) for Ward
Works and  A Kodanda Reddy (Banaswadi ward) for Education.
