BBMP projects to ease traffic shortly
Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is
hopeful that the two projects — underpass at Magadi Road-Siddaiah
Puranik Road Junction and flyover at 10th Cross Chord Road Junction,
Rajajinagar 1st Block will ease traffic jams.
BBMP
hopes to complete the two projects in the next 15 months. The total cost
of underpass project at Siddaiah Puranik Road Junction is Rs 30 crore,
while for flyover construction at Rajijinagar, Rs 25 crore will be
spent.
Traffic intensity, says BBMP, at Magadi Road- Siddaiah
Puranik Road Junction is 8,243 Passenger Car Unit (PCU) per hour during
morning peak hour and 7,876 PCU per hour during evening peak hour.
Similarly, traffic density at 10th Cross Road Junction, Rajajinagar is
8,021 PCU per hour during morning peak hour and 8,195 PCU per hour
during evening peak hour.
“It will be four lanes divided bi-directional
underpass at Magadi Road Junction and two lane bi-directional flyover at
Rajajinagar. BBMP has got grants from the State government. Apart from
this, a flyover will be coming up at Shivananda Circle at total cost of
Rs 57 crore and DPR is ready,” BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana said.
