BBMP scraps building plans of two highrises
Two top builders in the City may face action
for allegedly giving false information to the Bruhat Bangalore
Mahanagara Palike as well as the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Hinting
at initiating a criminal case against the two top builders, BBMP
Commissioner M Lakshminarayana ordered scrapping the building plan of
the multi-storeyed buildings coming up on Hebbal Road near the Parsi
cremation ground in the City. The developers of the two projects
allegedly gave false information about the longitude and the latitude of
the building, in violation of the AAI regulations.
Raising this
matter in the BBMP Council, Nagapura corporator S Harish said: “The
builders showed at least 20 metres less than the actual latitude of the
location only to increase the height of the structure by another 60 ft.
This is a criminal offence given the fact that the Bengaluru
International Airport is in the close proximity.”
with the builders and sanctioning the building plan. He said though the
two builders did not pay a betterment charge of Rs four crore, the
Palike officers issued khata. “The Palike engineers gave the building
plan despite knowing that the betterment charges were not paid and the
AAI’s guidelines were flouted by the builders. A criminal case should be
initiated against the builders, building plans should be scrapped and
Khatha given for the property should be canceled,” said Harish.
Another builder in soup
The
commissioner ordered scrapping the khata issued to a property on
Lalbagh Road where a builder allegedly grabbed a public road while
amalgamating some sites.
Jayamahal corporator M K Gunashekar
asked: “How can an approach road be amalgamated and Khata is issued?” He
said the building plan has also been sanctioned on this amalgamated
site comprising the road.
The additional director of Town
Planning Department of the BBMP, Chowde Gowda refuted the allegation but
Gunashekar handed over all the relevant documents to the Mayor and the
commissioner seeking an explanation and action against the Palike
officer for ‘lying’ to the Council.
