Following directions from the Health and Family Welfare Department,
the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s Health Department undertook a
dengue control campaign in 44 wards of the city.
The BBMP kicked
off the campaign from the east zone and covered 44 wards. The department
even roped in Home Minister K J George, who, along the BBMP staff,
visited some homes in Kadugondanahalli in Sarvajna Nagar and educated
the people about dengue and measures to contain it.
Speaking to
Express, Medical Health Officer Dr Sangamithra said the BBMP Health
Department had formed five teams which, in turn, monitored 220 teams
that covered 44 wards and will cover the rest in phases. About 200
nursing students from Bangalore Medical College also were involved in
the campaign.
Chief Health Officer S B Nagaraj and Zonal Commissioner Venkateshappa monitored the dengue surveillance campaign.
