BBMP to review property tax details
BANGALORE: Amidst large-scale undervaluation of properties in the Self-Assessment Scheme (SAS) system, particularly in relation to properties above 3,000 sqft, the BBMP has undertaken a special drive for reviewing the details submitted by the property owners.
BBMP commissioner Siddaiah has instructed the special teams to complete the review process by March.
The teams will again measure those properties which are above 3,000
sqft (both residential and commercial) and re-fix the property tax,
Siddaiah said.
He has instructed the teams to recover the deferential amount from the erring property owners.
The BBMP is also thinking to exempt from penalty those owners who disclose the real facts and pay the differential tax amount.
As regards to properties that are enjoying civic amenities/facilities
and still not registered under property tax, Siddaiah has instructed
joint commissioners to evolve a special campaign to enable property
owners to pay tax and obtain receipts at the central office before March
15. This is being done as many people have requested the BBMP to
register their names under this ‘B Khatha’, a separate register for such
properties.
