BDA Commissioner summoned yet again

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the
Commissioner of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Principal
Secretary, Urban Development, to personally appear before the court next
week.
Second time
This is the second time in two days that the court had sought the presence of the Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena.
While on Wednesday, it was the demolition threat in RMV Extension
that drew the court’s ire, on Thursday it was the turn of Roopena
Agrahara residents to draw the attention of the court to the proposed
demolition of their houses.
Several residents of had petitioned the High Court against the
proposed demolition of their homes saying they had not been served any
notice and that they apprehended the BDA might arbitrarily demolish
their houses. The court was told that the BDA Commissioner was already
slated to appear in connection with the demolition of houses in RMV
Extension.
Justice D.V. Shylendra Kumar ordered the BDA Commissioner and the Principal Secretary to be present in court next week.
Affidavit
This is the second time that Mr. Justice Shylendra Kumar has ordered
the BDA Commissioner to be present in court in this case too and asked
the Government to file an affidavit.
Criticised
On Wednesday, he had taken exception to the absence of the BDA
Commissioner to appear in court though he had been asked to do so.
He criticised the Commissioner and asked him to be present in court on December 8.
