Be ready for GIS-based road history, BBMP told

Mayor B S Sathyanarayana on Tuesday exhorted
BBMP officers and corporators to gear up for the launch of Geographical
Information System (GIS)-based road history at the earliest in order to
kick-start the frozen works at the ward level.
At the
review meeting on revenue generation in Bangalore South, when the
corporators raised the matter of starting frozen works, the mayor said,
“There are Rs 570 crore worth of frozen works of which some are very
essential. Based on priority, some should be started.” He told the
corporators and BBMP officers that they have to introduce road history,
without which work will not be approved henceforth. He instructed the
Basavanagudi division officers to prepare the road history at the
earliest.
During the meeting, Sathyanarayana reminded the revenue
officers that they could generate at least Rs 500 crore from Jayanagar
through door-to-door property tax collection. He, however, hailed the
officers for their honesty saying that the forgery that had taken place
in Rajarajeshwari Nagar revenue division was not taking place in
Jayanagar.

Ramalinga Reddy said the 8,830 properties, which are out of the tax
ambit, should be given property identification numbers. He directed the
BBMP officials that the revision of property taxes of major properties,
which are either undervalued or have not been taxed so far, should be
carried out.
