Beautification of Bhopal gets Mayor’s nod

Around half a dozen proposals including some for the beautification of the State capital earned the nod at the Mayor-in-Council (MiC) meet of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), chaired by Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur here on Thursday.
The major proposals earning the nod included, clearance of a `6.68 crore proposal for canalization of sewage water passing through the under construction site of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Saket Nagar.
Notably, following the clearance from the MiC, the proposal would now be placed before the general council of the Corporation. The proposed nullah could only be constructed after it is cleared with a majority in the BMC council.
Further, two proposals dealing with ongoing beautification work at the JK Road managed to find their way at the meeting. A sum of `28.50 lakh was sanctioned for fitting of interlock blocks on the JK Road footpath, while a `28 lakh proposal for decorative lamps in the area was also cleared by the MiC.
For installing statue of Veerangana Jhalkari Bai, the MiC sanctioned a sum of `10 lakh, whereas a proposal dealing with the budget of the Corporation engineering department for the year 2010-11 was forwarded for consideration of the general council.
