Best corporations may get award
DAVANAGERE: Urban development minister S Suresh Kumar said the government is planning to institute Best Corporation Award after studying the progress and development achieved by the city corporations across the state.
Speaking to reporters after holding a review meeting at the DC’s office here recently, the minister said: “We would confer Best Corporation Award to the best civic body from August, keeping in view their revenue collection, hygiene, beautification initiatives, and other aspects coming under its limits.”
The minister advised the authorities of Davangere City Corporation to keep the city clean and green in the interest of the public. He further highlighted the need to keep a tab on hospitals and nursing homes, especially with regard to the disposal of medical waste.
Chief whip of legislative council, Dr A H Shivayogiswamy, mayor Vasanthkumar and coporators were present.
