Biogas plant at Palayam
The City Corporation will set up a biogas plant which
can process two tonnes of waste a day at the Connemara Market, Palayam,
by June 1.
Officials said this was one of the largest
waste-to-energy projects to be undertaken by them and much of the work
was over. The inaugural date was befitting as the southwest monsoon was
expected to set in. As much as Rs.29 lakh, provided by the Kerala
Sustainable Urban Development Project, was being utilised for the
project, Welfare standing committee chairperson Palayam Rajan said.
Biogas plants would be set up at the Peroorkada market and the Sree
Chitra Home campus as part of a sustained process, sources said.
