Biometric attendance for Corporation staff begins
Biometric attendance system was introduced in Kochi Corporation on Wednesday.
The
officials of the Corporation now have to mark their attendance using
their ID cards and fingerprints thrice a day. Attendance should be
recorded before 10.15 a.m., between 1.15 p.m. and 2 p.m. and after 5
p.m. Biometric machines have been installed in various sections of the
office. Keltron is in charge of project, which was announced in the
annual budget of the civic body.
The system was
established at a cost of around Rs. 16 lakh. From September 1, the
system will be made compulsory for the staff of the civic body.
Kochi
Mayor Tony Chammany inaugurated the system. Deputy Mayor B. Bhadra and
Corporation secretary Ajit B. Patil were also present at the
inauguration.
